When you play Texas holdem you need to know probabilities to know the outs and ins better.  Even action when you play Texas holdem matters a lot and will pay if you are making them with giving some real consideration to odds. Unless you know your odds, you will not be able to arrive at the chances of finishing with a flush or a straight.  Even to identify that your hand is not worth playing any more you need to know the odds.

The most important odds that you should know when you play Texas holdem is the outs, the pot odds, the betting odds, and the implied odds.  The outs when you play Texas holdem is the number of cards that is not with you or in the board that you are expecting to show up in the board for you to make a hand.  Pot odds refer to estimating the size of the pot before you can probably make your next call.   The betting odds are those that you get after you arrive at the number of opponents that are likely to call your bet or contribute to your bet.  The implied odds refer to the amount that you are likely to get in the end for the kind of bet or raise that you are risking now.

You might not be able to play Texas holdem without knowing all these odds and applying them in making your decision for every action you make at the table.  The right time to holdem and the right time to foldem cannot be arrived at without knowing the odds lesson.

The concept of pot odds might vary based on the nature of the opponents who tend to hand on to playing to defend the money that they have already invested in the pot.  By learning odds you will not hang on to play Texas holdem when you realize that the chances for you to make a hand are dead or very less.
