Some people make a wise decision of playing good pre-flop and post-flop and of course they hero out through the turn to the river.  Just a bit before the river they get shook by the movements of the opponent and they even fold the hand that is worthy of the pot split due to fear of losing.  In most cases, when poker math is favorable and opponent reactions seems scary, they might be just bluffing, it is better to take that little risk rather than folding in the river, provided there is a slim margin and poker math is promising.
